Workshop
Blended learning tools: lino, glogster, voki, and voxopop
Blended learning is a current trend not only in teaching but also in research in the educational domain with a large focus on language learning. Research indicates that blended learning, despite the variety of definitions, aims at providing a good learning experience by combining the best features of face-to-face learning and online learning through a combination of methodologies and approaches to learning. More and more institutions, courses, and educators apply blended learning as its embedded flexibility allows students to have more control in their own learning and helps them develop lifelong learning skills. This workshop will illustrate how instructors can build an ideal blended learning environment for their learners by choosing from a plethora of online tools the one(s) which will engage their students in the learning process. A variety of tools will be briefly introduced and discussed, but the workshop will focus on the following four tools: lino, glogster, voki, and voxopop. During the workshop, the participants have the opportunity to see examples of how the four tools are used in language learning. They will also receive step-by-step guidelines on how to use them. Finally, by the end of the workshop participants will create their own task using one of the four tools.
